What?! OMG! That book was so good. I need more. When does the next one come out??
Okay, let me get to the review. The House Of Royals is a little bit of Beautiful Creatures with a little bit of The Morganville Vampire series mixed with a uniqueness of its own. I was drawn to the book by its description. A town that knows Vampires exist but no one outside of the town does. At night you have to stay in your house. It makes you wonder why they stay. Ian sums it up best, “When your roots run deep, it’s hard to walk away.” That's true. It's why most continue to live in small towns. The story is so entertaining. It had my attention from the beginning and has left me with a book hangover.
Alivia is the heroine. She has inherited not only a house but a huge secret. She takes it in stride. She's one of those characters that you love. She is emotional yet strong. Funny yet serious. In real life she would be your BFF. She makes the perfect heroine. She ends up with Ian. He's serious and brooding. The complete opposite of Alivia. They work well together and have interesting scenes. I enjoyed reading about them both. I was rooting for them from the beginning.
Every character in this book is great, even the villain. You love to hate them. Taylor does an excellent job at creating a story that entertains and engages the reader. She creates a world that is both dark and light, human and vampire world, Born and Bitten vampires. I like how she was able bring the action and violence without being overly graphic. It's a story that would capture the attention of adults but is clean enough for older teens.
I was slightly upset that there was a cliffhanger and she leaves you teetering on the edge at the end. I'm over it because I know it's needed. I just want the next book now. Lol I absolutely loved this book, in case you can't tell, and highly recommend it.
